SWOSU Student Group Receives National Recognition

The Fellowship of Christian Pharmacists (FCP), a student organization at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, recently received the National Chapter of the Year Award at the Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI) annual meeting held in Myrtle Beach (SC).

The award was granted based on activities conducted by FCP over the past year.  FCP sponsored a towel and washcloth drive for the Women and Children’s Crisis Center of Clinton and a sock drive for the Agape Clinic in Weatherford.  FCP also participated in Operation Christmas Child and Sole Hope, a program in which denim is cut for the purpose of making shoes for children in Uganda.  In addition, the group held weekly meetings as well as monthly organizational events.  With approximately 80 members, FCP is one of the largest student organizations on the SWOSU campus.

FCP is a student affiliated group of CPFI.

Also at the national meeting, SWOSU student Ashley DeVaughan, of Ft. Cobb was elected president-elect of the national CPFI student group.

Dr. Virgil Van Dusen serves as faculty sponsor of the SWOSU FCP.
