Trisha Wald Named Chair of SWOSU Department of Business and Computer Science

Dr. Trisha Wald has been named chair of the Department of Business and Computer Science in the Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

The appointment began July 1.

Associate Professor Wald has taught at SWOSU since 2008.  She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Finance from SWOSU and a juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma School of Law.

While at SWOSU, Wald has taught classes in business law, tax law and accounting.  In 2014, Wald received the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award from the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants.  In addition to teaching, she has been active in scholarly activity through research and presentations with both the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB), a national group, and its regional affiliate, the Southern Academy of Legal Studies in Business (SALSB).  Wald also serves as a reviewer for the Southern Law Journal and the American Business Law Journal. 

Wald is involved in campus activities and committees including being a senator in the Faculty Senate, where she served as the secretary/treasurer for 2015/2016.  She and Dr. Patsy Parker have recently implemented a faculty mentoring program for the SWOSU School of Business and Technology. The purpose is to help new instructors segue into their teaching experiences at SWOSU. 

Wald is a graduate of Leadership Weatherford Class 14 and a member of the finance committee at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church in Weatherford.
