Keith Dodson Family Honored by SWOSU College of Pharmacy

Members of the Keith Dodson family were recently honored with the College of Pharmacy Heritage Award at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

Those receiving the honor, all SWOSU pharmacy graduates, were Keith Dodson (1961), father; Mark (1989), son; and Lisa (1989), daughter-in-law (Mark’s wife).

The Heritage Award recognizes a family with at least two generations of SWOSU pharmacy graduates who have demonstrated a commitment to the university, SWOSU College of Pharmacy and the pharmacy profession.

“The Dodson family has been doing this very well for many years,” said Pharmacy Dean Dr. David Ralph.

Keith is currently partner in Bunker Hill Pharmacy in Altus, partner in United Pharmacy in Mangum and partner in The Medicine Stop in Kerrville.  He has served in leadership roles with the Oklahoma Pharmacist Association (OPhA), Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy, and Pharmacy Providers of Oklahoma. In 1981, OPhA presented him with the prestigious Bowl of Hygeia Award, and he also received the Outstanding Pharmacy Alumnus Award from SWOSU that same year. Additionally, he has served locally with the Altus Chamber of Commerce and Western Oklahoma State College Alumni Foundation.

Keith and his wife, Judy, have three children: Debbie, Mark and Scott (who is also a SWOSU graduate).  Keith and Judy have six granddaughters, one grandson and one great grandson.

Keith’s son, Mark, graduated from SWOSU College of Pharmacy in 1989 and has been working at Bunker Hill Pharmacy since 1990.  He is also a member of OPhA, serving as president in 2004.  He was awarded OPhA’s Distinguished Young Pharmacist award in 1999.  Mark is currently a member of the Western Oklahoma State College Board of Regents and the Southwestern Pharmacy Foundation Board of Directors.

Mark and his wife, Lisa (a 1989 SWOSU pharmacy graduate), were married soon after they graduated from SWOSU.  She works at Bunker Hill Pharmacy as well as Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.  She is a founding member of the SWOSU Pharmacy Alumni Association Council and was instrumental in establishing its endeavors. Mark and Lisa are the proud parents of two daughters: Marissa and Lauren.

Keith, Mark and Lisa have been involved in many activities and have graciously served at local and state levels. They are all lifetime members of the SWOSU Pharmacy Alumni Association.  Additionally, they are outstanding supporters of the College of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Alumni Association as well as the Pharmacy Foundation.

Each family member received an engraved Heritage Award Commemorative Coin, College of Pharmacy blanket, and their names displayed on a tree stake in the garden area by the College of Pharmacy Heritage Tree, a Texas white bud tree which was planted in 2014 for the College of Pharmacy’s 75th anniversary celebration.
