Powwow Planned Saturday on SWOSU Campus

A powwow will be held this Saturday evening, March 25, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

The Native American Student Association is hosting the 2nd annual intertribal powwow at the Wellness Center and runs from 5-11 p.m. Admission is free, and the public is invited.

A supper will start at 5 p.m. with the Grand Entry planned for 7 p.m. Dance contests will follow. Traditional dancing will take place in: men combine, woman combine, junior and teen boy’s combine; junior and teen girl’s combine; and tiny tot.  In the adult categories, first place wins $100, second place $75 and third place $50. Junior/teen prizes are $75, $50 and $25, respectively.

All princesses, organizations and clubs are invited. Some vendors will also be present. For more information, call 580.774.7138.
