Drone Days of Summer Meeting Planned Thursday at SWOSU

The popularity and diversity of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones) continues to increase and an informational meeting on an event—Drone Days of Summer—will be held this Thursday, April 20, at 6 p.m. on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford.

Nate Downs, director of the Pioneer Cellular Event Center, said drone racing is planned this summer on the SWOSU campus, and this informational meeting is for anyone who might be interested.

“Drone racing is a hugely popular new sport that is growing in numbers every day,” Downs said.  “ESPN is now televising drone races from all over the world and the World Championship of Drone Racing has a $1 Million prize.”

Downs said the event center will have set days and times during most weeks of the summer for individuals to either bring their own or rent a drone. Dates/times will be announced soon on the

Pioneer Cellular Event Center website.
