New MSN/MBA Dual Online Program Starting at SWOSU
A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) dual degree has been established at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and will begin this Fall semester 2017.
The SWOSU School of Nursing and the Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology are excited are working in partnership on this online program.
“The demand for nurse executives and administrators with a business background has never been higher,” said SWOSU Associate Dean of the School of Nursing Dr. Marcy Tanner.
Tanner said she has been approached by several nurse leaders with requests for such a program.
“The program offered by the School of Business and Technology is of the highest quality and has been a longstanding program with a solid reputation,” Tanner said. “With the newly created online format, the combined MSN/MBA program will allow nurses the opportunity to advance their career and education in a convenient, accessible manner.”
Lisa Friesen, director of graduate programs for the SWOSU School of Business and Technology, is excited about the new program.
“Offering an online, accelerated MBA for students in the healthcare industry is one way that we can help prospective students to advance their careers,” Friesen said. “Students in healthcare fields are great examples of students who are committed to their goals.”
The new MSN/MBA will be an online, accelerated program consisting of courses offered in an 8-week format. The MSN degree was launched in Fall 2016, and Friesen said the MSN/MBA dual degree is already in demand.
