$25,000 Gift Offered to SWOSU in Honor of Dr. Bob Chambers
The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation, Inc. in Weatherford has announced an anonymous pledge of $25,000 in honor of the late Dr. Robert Lee Chambers.
“An anonymous alumni donor has reached out to SWOSU and generously offered to match up to $25,000 in gifts in honor of Professor Chambers,” said SWOSU Foundation Executive Director Garrett King. “Per the request of the donor, 100% of the pledge and any gifts made to match it will be used to provide scholarships to jazz and trombone students at SWOSU. This is a thoughtful gesture that symbolizes the enduring impact that Dr. Chambers had on so many of our students, faculty, alumni, and emeriti.”
There is no required minimum or maximum gift amount to be eligible for the match.
Chambers recently passed away at the age of 65. He was a proud 1974 and 1976 SWOSU alumnus and earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Oklahoma in 1986. Chambers was a respected and active member of the SWOSU faculty for over 40 years.
"This is an incredible opportunity for SWOSU’s friends and alumni to make a tremendous impact on the lives of our jazz and trombone students,” King said. “We are so grateful for the generosity of this anonymous donor – and for the generosity of the many donors who will step up and meet this challenge."
