SWOSU Presenting The Velveteen Rabbit on September 29-30
Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Art, Communication, and Theatre has opened the box office for its season-opener, The Velveteen Rabbit.
Performances are being held in conjunction with SWOSU Parent’s Day activities at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 29, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, both in the SWOSU Hilltop Theatre.
The SWOSU Hilltop Theatre Box Office is open Mondays through Fridays from 4-7 p.m. to take reservations. The phone number is 580.774.6046.
The Velveteen Rabbit is an adaptation of the classic children’s book by Margery Williams and was adapted for the stage by Scott Davidson and produced on the SWOSU stage through special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., of Englewood (CO).
The playwright states, “Perhaps no piece of literature we experience in our lives will touch us as deeply and profoundly as the classics of childhood. They can be our guide through the turmoil and frustrations of youth, a gentle and reassuring reminder of the joys of life and the touchstone for our warmest memories. We each have our favorite book that still possesses the power to move us with its message.”
The Velveteen Rabbit is one of these timeless stories. It is filled with the joy and pain of childhood and continues to share a mysterious truth that becomes wiser and more meaningful the older people grow. The 35-minute production is appropriate for all ages.
Admission for the production is $5 for adults, $3 for non-SWOSU students, and free for individuals with a valid SWOSU ID.
