Robotics Teams from Four States Headed to SWOSU

The Oklahoma Regional State Championship for First Tech Challenge Robotics will be held this weekend (February 16-17) at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

Sixty high school and junior high school teams from Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas will be competing in multiple events, according to Madeline Baugher, director of the SWOSU computer science program.

Teams have designed, built and programmed a robot to meet the challenges of this year’s game, First Relic Recovery. The robot must pick up and place cubes in a specific pattern, balance on a moving platform and place relics outside the field a within specific area.

Between 450 and 500 students will be at the Wellness Center on the SWOSU campus beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday to pit their robots against each other. The public is invited to watch the competition, which continue throughout the day.
