SWOSU Students Compete at Miss Oklahoma Pageant
Five students/graduates of Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford were among 45 contestants who participated in the Miss Oklahoma Pageant held June 5-9 in Tulsa.
Miss SWOSU Melissa Valencia of Marlow won the $500 Miracle Maker Award for raising the most money for the Children’s Miracle Hospital. Valencia also won a $200,000 scholarship to a vocal academy in Philadelphia and a non-finalist $750 award. Valencia sang opera for her talent.
Other SWOSU students who represented different pageants were: Miss Grand Lake Meaghan Dorn, Miss Mustang Ashlin Murray, Miss Collinsville Hailey Raetz and Miss Riverwalk Maybree Rittenhouse.
Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen Katelyn Woods of Lawton (Eisenhower) won a $100 non-finalist talent award for her jazz dance and a $300 non-finalist award.
Miss Edmond LibertyFest Ashley Thompson won the title of Miss Oklahoma and will now compete at the Miss America Pageant.
