Pharmacists are an integral part of the health care team at the Carnegie Indian Clinic. Pharmacists and physicians have an excellent working relationship. The physicians appreciate and utilize the pharmacist’s knowledge of medications. Pharmacists are expected to use their clinical knowledge at this pharmacy. Prescriptions are processed using the patient’s chart. After the physician sees the patient, the chart is turned into the pharmacy for prescriptions to be filled. This allows the pharmacist to evaluate any needed information (such as lab results, allergies, etc…). This facility provides an excellent environment for continual learning for a pharmacist. In addition, this site will give students a chance to learn about the United States Public Health Service and the various opportunities in pharmacy as a commissioned officer.
