The IHS facility at Clinton serves both inpatients and outpatients. The clinics and outpatient care form the bulk of services offered at this facility. When fully staffed, this site employs 4 full time pharmacists.
Hospital care activities include: responding to codes, IV admixtures, and more direct care activities such as calculating and hanging heparin drips Clinic activities include: working directly with patients and other health care providers and anticipated implementation of new pharmacy based lipid clinic starting this spring 2004.
Unique aspects of pharmacy practice includes filling outpatient orders directly from the patient's chart, thus allowing the pharmacist full access to all patient medical records that can be viewed before any medication decisions are made.
