Griffin Pharmacy provides a relaxed inpatient environment where the student can learn about the different aspects of psychiatric medicine. The student will be directly involved with the administrative, dispensing, and educational duties of a practicing pharmacist. Some of the projects and experiences a student might expect are as follows:

  1. Dispensing medication to meet the psychiatric and medical needs for inpatients and outpatients.
  2. Monitoring drug therapy for psychiatric patients
  3. Helping develop policies and procedures for a psychiatric hospital.
  4. Providing nursing and patient medication in-services
  5. Providing medication education for patient discharge
  6. Help develop dosing protocols for pediatric patients
  7. Help develop protocols for monitoring labs based on medication therapy
  8. Help design QA programs
  9. Do QA audits
  10. Provide drug information to medical and nursing staff
