The hospital at our facility is new and has been open for just over two years, the primary care facility was remodeled and reopened just over 1 1/2 years ago. Pharmacy service consist of a new inpatient area in the bed tower, an outpatient area located in the primary care and a clinical pharmacy room on the forth floor of the bed tower. The patient charts are totally electronic which gives pharmacist total access to complete records, from x-ray reports with visual imaging to laboratory reports, vitals and progress notes. Pharmacy service utilizes automation and computerization as much as possible.

Students normally go on rounds with the medical staff and clinical pharmacy specialist three times a week for the total 4 week rotation, work in the inpatient area for 2 weeks learning to use the computer system to input and approve orders, help make IV's, chemotherapy and work on the unit dose system and help with the discharge process. The last 2 weeks are spent in the outpatient area helping to care for the primary care patients. The outpatient pharmacy utilizes a ScritPro 2000 to help free pharmacist to counsel patients and an Adds unit in the emergency room. The student would learn about the automation and would be working with the patient.
