1939: A basic enrollment fee of $11.50 was required for a student to register for a full program of classwork at Southwestern State College of Diversified Occupations. There were small additional fees for laboratory courses and use of equipment in physical education courses. Living expenses in the new college dormitories were as little as $6 per month, while board in the dining hall was $14 per month.
1943: President G.S. Sanders announced Southwestern would offer a series of short courses as a service to the general public. Known as appreciation courses, the courses were organized based on demand. All classes were taught by regular college faculty members and met in the evenings unless students preferred other hours and instructors were available during the day.
1967: Bob Brown, former superintendent of Davis schools, began his duties as dean of men, while Freda Mae Sauer was named dean of women. Sauer succeeded Ruby Drinkwater who remained on staff as a faculty member in the Division of Teacher Education and Psychology.
1977: The Division of Business at Southwestern received final approval to begin offering its master of business administration program.
1999: New faculty members on the Sayre campus included Jess Parker, radiologic technology; Dayna Coker, mathematics; and Patsy Wootton, business/computer science.
