1939: In addition to regular studies, sports and amusements, Southwestern students had the option of participation in various clubs on campus. Existing clubs were: Alpha Phi Sigma, Alpha Psi Omega, Bio-Club, Baptist Student Union, Bulls, Writers Guild, Forensic, Pallette and Brush, Q.P., S Club, Senate, Swastika, Tri-J, Wesley Foundation, YMYW and Photography.
1957: Two faculty members were added. George Beckloff joined the School of Pharmacy, while William E. Lass accepted a position in the history department.
1962: Dr. Charles J. Watson, 39, professor of piano at Southwestern, died in a Bristow hospital shortly after a two-car accident about eight miles east of Stroud on the Turner Turnpike.
1968: Southwestern became the first institution of higher learning in Oklahoma to offer a medical record science program.
1977: Susan Thiessen was named admissions counselor in the SWOSU School of Pharmacy.
1990: Duncan Taylor was named student center director, while John Hays was named assistant to the president. Bob Klaassen was named registrar after being director of admissions.
