1929: The City of Weatherford paid tribute to Dr. J.P. Campbell, Southwestern's first president who died at his home in Stillwater.

1941: A contract for the construction of a new Administration Building on the Southwestern Tech campus was awarded to Dennehy Construction Company of Oklahoma City. Plans for the new building called for two stories.

1967: It was announced that Dr. Clarence Petrowsky would become chairman of the Department of History and Social Studies.

1977: Southwestern's football team was ranked #1 and headed to the Apple Bowl in Seattle. The Bulldogs played #2-ranked Abilene Christian (TX) but lost a 24-7 decision in the NAIA championship title contest.

1980: Walgreen Company provided a $2,500 teaching and research grant to Professor Ed Christensen in the SWOSU School of Pharmacy.

1992: Several students from the Wesley Foundation, a campus ministry of the First United Methodist Church, were planning to leave for Russia to establish the first Wesley Foundation on that continent. Wesley Director Dan Grimes and his wife were taking 12 Southwestern students on the trip.
