February - First Week
1906: Plans were provided for a fire proof building on campus. The building was to be modern in every way, 80 feet wide and 236 feet long. The estimated cost of construction was $97,000.
1940: Southwestern was unable to pay teachers' salaries in January because state warrants failed to arrive which tied up the college financially. A total of $7,200 was due to teachers. The teachers finally got paid at the end of February.
1961: Enrollment for the second semester passed the 1,800 mark. The total stood at 1,806, down 65 students from the fall semester.
1971: The School of Pharmacy initiated the professional practice program. Senior pharmacy students were placed in select drug stores and prescription shops to learn the business first hand.
1981: Miss America Susan Powell of Elk City made a special appearance at the Miss Southwestern Pageant.
