1919: Southwestern State Normal won the state normal school championship basketball title by defeating Central Normal.
1931: "Thank You Duster" was a one-act play performed by Southwestern's dramatic production organization at the regular meeting of the Kiwanis Club.
1953: Someone broke into the Student Union snack bar and got away with nearly $225. Around $25 was taken from the cash register, but the biggest amount, around $200, was taken from the jukebox. Twenty cartons of cigarettes were also taken.
1973: Dr. Charles Chapman of the Department of Music was elected chairman of the higher education section of the Oklahoma Music Educators Association.
1979: The Division of Nursing received full approval by the Oklahoma Board of Nurse Registration and Nursing Education. It was the final mandatory step toward full accreditation of the Southwestern nursing program.
