1947: Ernest A. Thomas of Paintsville, Kent., arrived in Weatherford to assume his duties as librarian at Southwestern Tech.
1950: Bruce Ford, a native of Cloud Chief (OK), earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in education in just two and one-half years. He started his collegiate career at Southwestern in January, 1948.
1955: Southwestern received $550,000 for a new physical education building.
1964: Several faculty appointments were announced, including Jacob Richards in sociology, Fred Von Wicklen in biology, George Calvert in art, Helen Brown in home economics and Harold White in chemistry.
1974: Southwestern's Division of Teacher Education and Psychology was awarded a $28,600 equipment grant for a project designed to involve students in the experimental processes of psychology.
1999: David Hooten & Friends performed Dixieland jazz at a concert during Southwestern's 44th annual band camp.
2000: Southwestern Oklahoma State University employees Chad Kinder, Nelson Perkins and Dr. Ken Rose became fully certified reserve officers for the Washita County Sheriff's office to assist with law enforcement at Crowder Lake Park.
