1911: Commencement week was a busy time at Southwestern as several events were planned throughout the week, including a Baccalaureate sermon given by Dr. I.N. McCash of Cincinnati, Ohio; a piano recital by Grace Norris who was assisted by her sister, Helen Norris, who sang several songs; a concert by the Normal orchestra; and the commencement address given by the Hon. L.R. Williams, Justice of the Supreme Court.
1933: Duke, the bulldog mascot of Southwestern athletic teams for eight years, died. Duke had been sick for several weeks but his fighting spirit kept him alive after all hope for his recovery had been abandoned.
1947: Of the six highest grades made on the State Board of Pharmacy examinations, students of Southwestern Tech's School of Pharmacy made five.
1958: Former president Dr. Ernest E. Brown died unexpectedly at the age of 66.
1967: Southwestern received a $64,651 grant to help convert the old library into an art building.
1973: The Board of Regents of Oklahoma approved the employment of Charles Dean Ingram as assistant librarian and Randall K. Russell as a faculty member in the Division of Business.
