1931: Henry Wiggins of Canyon (TX) was chosen captain of the 1932 Bulldog football team. The announcement was made at the squad's annual grid banquet.
1956: A contract was awarded to Smith and Son for construction of a new health and physical education building. The low bid was $481,154.
1978: Dr. Gary Wolgamott, chairman of the Division of Allied Health Sciences, was named president-elect of the Oklahoma Academy of Science. The 600-member academy consists of scientists of all disciplines throughout the state of Oklahoma
1985: Southwestern received official notification that the technology program had received national accreditation, according to Southwestern President Leonard Campbell.
1987: Approximately 14 area public schools were scheduled to participate in the annual fashion show at Southwestern. Theme for the event was "Tis the Season."
1992: Ethel Giles Nunn gave $10,000 to the Southwestern Foundation to benefit the Lady Bulldog basketball team.
1994: Southwestern started the process of moving its athletic membership from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II.
