March - First Week
1921: An extensive advertising campaign on behalf of Southwestern State Normal School was being organized by the chamber of com- merce and Southwestern. As many as 10 automobile loads of boosters were scheduled to visit 25 towns and schools.
1940: Southwestern President James B. Boren was named head of the State Aviation Association. He was elected at the state conference in Oklahoma City.
1957: Three new instructors were hired. Dorothy Hatfield was hired as home economics instructor, Harry Cooper Koenig as instructor of foreign languages and Dr. Robert Bain Bailey as teacher in the areas of exceptional children, principles of guidance and advancement of health.
1973: Hepatitis took the lives of three students. The outbreak caused concern on campus.
1980: For the 13th consecutive year, Southwestern's chapter of Phi Beta Lambda professional business fraternity was named "Best State Chapter."
