March - Second Week
1940: Southwestern's wrestlers sacked up the state collegiate conference mat title by drubbing the Central Bronchos, 25-5. Jake Spann coached the defending national A.A.U. champions.
1951: Southwestern was expecting an increase in enrollment of World War veterans with the beginning of the summer session. Many ex-GIs were concerned about starting their training before the July 25 deadline. Those not in training by that time would lose their educational benefits.
1960: Approval was received from the North Central Association for Southwestern to grant master of teaching degrees.
1970: The Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences was to be reorganized into two departments. Dr. Donald Hamm was appointed chairman of the Chemistry Department, while Dr. Raymond McKellips was named to head the Mathematics Department.
1986: Opal Hampton, faculty member in the School of Education, was Oklahoma's 1986 Mother of the Year and represented Oklahoma in the national contest, held in Portland, Oregon.
