March - Third Week
1940: Betty Smith, junior from Clinton, was selected as yearbook queen for "The Bulldog" college annual for the 1939-40 school year.
1949: Burglars took approximately $380 from the Southwestern Tech financial secretary's office after jimmying through two outer doors and then burning a hole in the vault with an acetylene torch.
1966: Marion Diel was named registrar at Southwestern. He was succeeding longtime Southwestern employee Millie Thomas who announced she would be retiring June 30.
1974: Approximately 150 high school, junior college and university students from Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Arkansas attended a career day hosted by the Southwestern School of Pharmacy and Phi Delta Chi, a professional pharmacy fraternity. Lonnie Martin, PDC president, said the one-day seminar was being held to showcase Southwestern.
1985: Three-time All-American basketball player Kelli Litsch hit a baseline shot with 18 seconds left to give the Southwestern Lady Bulldogs their third national title in four years. Southwestern won 55-54 over Saginaw Valley, thanks to Litsch's shot.
