1921: The summer term of the Southwestern State Normal School opened with the largest first day enrollment that the school ever experienced. It was predicted the enrollment for Normal proper would reach 900. Adding this number with students in the training school, the total enrollment was expected to go past the 1,000 mark.
1931: Delbert Rozelle of Lookeba was chosen to captain the 1932 Southwestern Bulldog basketball team at the annual basketball lettermen luncheon.
1941: For the second consecutive year, the Southwestern student publication at Southwestern Tech was awarded first place in newspaper contests for Oklahoma senior colleges.
1953: Southwestern joined in the campaign of the World Student Service Fund to help needy students throughout the world. Students were collecting clothes and books for university students in Korea.
1968: A three-day "Splashfest" was held to officially dedicate and open the new Junior Olympic size swimming pool.
1975: Oklahoma Governor David Boren was guest speaker at the 71st annual Southwestern spring convocation. More than 760 students received degrees at the 8:30 p.m. ceremonies at Milam Stadium.
1990: Christopher Dewayne "Chris" Norman, 23, an outstanding linebacker for three seasons on the Southwestern football team, was found dead in his dormitory room.
