1911: President Ulysses J. Griffith said equipment was beginning to arrive for Southwestern's beautiful new building on the hill. He said the science department's equipment would enable the department to do acceptable and creditable work.
1921: Lloyd E. Swearington was named as chairman of the Physics and Chemistry Department at Southwestern, while Grace E. Jencke was named head of the English Department.
1936: Final approval was received for Southwestern to spend $13,195 for the building of athletic fields. The college was to furnish the skilled labor and materials. The ground east of the gridiron was to be leveled and made into a baseball diamond and several other playing fields for other types of athletics, including new tennis courts.
1941: Southwestern Tech class presidents included senior Alvin Hand, junior James Thomas, sophomore Bill Barnett and freshman Bill Williams.
1956: Formal dedication of the new Memorial Student Center was held. Ted Linville was named manager of the snack bar in the new Student Center.
1966: Southwestern was experiencing a record enrollment of 4,171. Completion of Oklahoma Hall was helping house some of the new students.
