The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a requirement for all applicants entering the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program here at Southwestern OK State Univ. This is an online exam by Assessment Technologies Institute that assesses your abilities in the following essential areas:

Reading – paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions (40 items, 50 minutes)
Math – whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion (45 items, 56 minutes)
Science –science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles, and general science (30 items, 38 minutes)
English and Language Usage – punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling (55 items, 65 minutes)

No calculator is allowed on this test, however scratch paper will be provided. A study guide may be purchased at the following website for $36.95 (price subject to change):

You are allowed to take the TEAS up to three times between February 3, 2009 - February 1, 2010 here at SWOSU. There is a two week waiting period between testing. The TEAS is administered at 1:00 p.m. at the SWOSU Assessment Center (on the corner of 8^th and College) on the following dates:

For online registration, your $25 payment and six-digit Receipt Number is required. Payment should be made by credit card by calling the SWOSU Business Office at 580-774-3019 with your credit card information. Please ask for the six- digit Receipt Number, which you will need to complete this online registration. The actual receipt is mailed upon request. If you choose to make your $25 payment in person at the SWOSU Business Office, please bring your receipt to the Assessment Center as soon as possible to reserve your seat. Seating is limited.
