Online Registration

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a requirement for all applicants entering the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program here at Southwestern OK State Univ. The fee to take the test is $40. This is an online exam by Assessment Technologies Institute that assesses your abilities in the following essential areas:

Reading – paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions (40 items, 50 minutes)
Math – whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion (45 items, 56 minutes)
Science –science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles, and general science (30 items, 38 minutes)
English and Language Usage – punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling (55 items, 65 minutes)

You should do your best on all four subject areas!

No calculator is allowed on this test, however scratch paper will be provided. A study guide may be purchased at the following website:

If you choose to take the TEAS at another institution, scores must be normed with Bachelor's of Nursing programs rather than Associate Degree programs or Practical Nursing programs. Please check to make sure that this is the case.

You are allowed to take the TEAS up to three times between February 5, 2013 - February 3, 2014 (first Monday in February). There is a two week waiting period between testing. The TEAS is administered at 1:00 p.m. at the SWOSU Assessment Center (on the corner of 8^th and College) on the following dates (subject to change):

For online registration, your $40 payment and six-digit Receipt Number is required. Payment should be made by credit card by calling the SWOSU Business Office at 580- 774-3019 with your credit card information. Please ask for the six-digit Receipt Number, which you will need to complete this online registration. The actual receipt will be mailed upon request. You may also choose to make your $40 payment in person at the SWOSU Business Office. Seating is limited.

Fee information:

$40 for each test
There is NO REFUND for your $40 payment, unless it is cancelled with at least one week's notice before the appointment.
Rescheduling with less than a week's notice before the original appointment will require an additional $40 payment.
