Utilization Policy

  • All SWOSU students who have a properly validated ID.
  • Individuals presenting a false ID or whose ID is presented by another individual shall incur an automatic suspension.
  • The Wellness director and his staff have the responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the facility.  Any persons who abuse personnel, through language, conduct any undesirable behavior will be subject to disciplinary actions.
  • Entry and exit will be at the front door; all other doors are for emergency only.
  • Tobacco in any form is prohibited.
  • Spitting is not permitted in the facility, including the drinking fountains.
  • Portable stereos can be used only with headphones.
  • Help to maintain the new building appearance, use trash receptacles around the building.
  • Bicycles, skateboards, and in-line skates will not be permitted inside of the facility, bike racks will be available outside of building.
  • No animals allowed in building except guide dogs.
  • Classroom activities have priority over all activities during their class time.
  • Intramurals activities have priority over all activities during time allotted.

Guest Pass

  • A guest will be defined as one who has come to visit a current student, the administrators of the University,  faculty or staff.  A guest must be at least 16 years old, sign a release form and be sponsored by a current student, the University, faculty or staff.  A guest pass will be issued with valid ID for no more than 2 consecutive days.  Only two passes will be issued to the same person per semester.  The guest will have all privileges that current students enjoy.

Visitors Pass

  • A visitor’s pass will be defined as one who comes to observe the Wellness Center, its function and operations.  There will be no privileges other than observation.

Food and Beverage

  • Food and drinks are allowed only in designated areas.
  • No glass containers allowed in the Wellness Center.
  • Water in plastic containers will be allowed.
  • Soliciting nutritional supplements, personal training or network marketing products in the Wellness Centers is prohibited.

Clothing

  • Athletic attire is required in most areas.  Nurse’s offices, Juice Bar, and the classrooms are the exceptions.
  • Athletic attire is defined as unaltered t-shirts (waist length), shorts or sweats, and non-marking indoor athletic shoes.  Cleats, sandals, flip-flops, bare or stocking feet are not allowed.
  • Failure to comply will result in suspension of recreation privileges.

Lost and Found

  • The Wellness Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.  Report all thefts to front desk.
  • The Wellness Center will not be responsible for valuables.
  • Items found should be turned into the front desk.  Inquiries regarding lost items should be made at the front desk.

Locker Rooms

  • Locker rooms are available for day use only; lockers are available through out the building.
  • No horseplay
  • No littering.
  • All gym bags and backpacks must be worn or placed in a locker. 

Equipment Check Out

  • Equipment can be check out with valid ID.
  • Users are responsible for equipment checked out in their name.  Fees will be charged for lost, damaged or late equipment.
  • An individual who has not returned equipment or paid replacement fees will not be allowed into the Wellness Center until fee is paid.  If fee remains unpaid it will be turn over to the registrar and attached to transcript.

Child Policy

  • Children under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times in all areas.
  • Failure to properly supervise children may result in forfeiture of privileges.
  • No children or guest can occupy space that a college age student could occupy.  Racquetball courts, aerobic rooms, track, and climbing dome.
  • Weight room is off limits to all under aged children.

Weight Room

  • Accidents happen in weight rooms, rules will be strictly enforced.
  • Weights must remain in their specific area.  Return weights to its proper rack after workout.
  • Do not lean weights against equipment or walls.  Do not set weights on benches or padding.
  • Do not drop the weights to the floor.
  • Do specific lifts in areas designed for that lift.
  • Always clamp the weights to the bar.
  • Do not monopolize weight equipment; allow others to work in with you.

Cardiovascular

  • Use the equipment the way it was designed.
  • Limit your workout to 30 minutes on each piece of equipment
  • Wipe down the equipment after you use it.
  • Do not touch television.  The attendant will adjust the set for you.
  • Must be 16 or older to use equipment.

Climbing

  • Climbing shoes or indoor athletic shoes are required.  No hiking boots, sandals, or bare feet on the dome.
  • T-shirts, sweats, khaki’s or shorts are acceptable.
  • Belayers must be set and ready before engaging the climb.
  • Belayers must have athletic shoes and all the proper equipment to safely facilitate a climb.
  • Climber and belayer will always use climbing commands.

Gym Floor

  • No hanging on the rims or nets.  Failure to comply will result in suspension of recreational privileges.
  • All equipment will be set and removed by Wellness Staff.

Aerobic Room

  • Spinning classes, kick boxing, aerobics’ will be available to students during time allotted for that activity.
