SWOSU @ Sayre

Childhood Development and Education

An Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education prepares students to work in entry-level positions such as daycare centers, Head Start programs, private nursery schools, federally funded early childhood education programs, and other public, church-related, and private pre-school programs. When the required curriculum is successfully completed, students are eligible for portfolio evaluation for the CDA Credential, which is required by many employment sites. The degree requires a combination of general education and behavioral science courses. Classroom knowledge is then applied during supervised practicum in an appropriate setting. Courses are available through interactive video, telecourses, and in classroom settings on campus.
