Political Science

The Political Science Program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University includes a Bachelor of Arts degree of 36 hours and a minor of 18 hours. Political Science involves the scientific study of political systems throughout the world. The areas of concentration within the field include Public Policy, Urban and Minority Politics, International Relations and Public Civil and Criminal Law.
Graduates of the Political Science program pursue careers in government, business and law. The program actively participates in the Model United Nations program each year with other major universities throughout the United States. Political science participates in field trips to New York City, Washington, DC, Mexico, Memphis, TN, Little Rock, AR, Dallas, TX and other places. The most recent of these was a field trip to President Clinton's Library in Little Rock, AR. The Political Science Students Association conducts regular monthly meetings, bringing guest speakers to campus to discuss politics and government at the state and national level.
The faculty sponsor and advisor for political science students is Ambassador Kenneth Tillett.
