What is Kappa Delta Pi?

Kappa Delta Pi is an international Honor Society in Education. Membership in the Society is awarded to the top 10% of students and professionals in the field of education. This is the only all disciplinary honor society for education that provides support throughout your career in education.

 Kappa Delta Pi is a recognition and professional development organization of over 60,000 members belonging to 500 chapters located in each of the United States and fourteen international countries.

History of Mu Kappa Chapter

 

 

In 1970, Lorrene Ort, a national field representative of Kappa Delta Pi, presented the charter to Dr. Grace Burcham, Chair of Elementary Education. Dr. Earl Reynolds and Dr. Charlotte Lam were charter members along with Dr. Burcham.

 

Dr. Grace Burcham served as sponsor from 1970 until her retirement in 1980. Others who have served as counselors include Dr. Jana Lou Scott, Dr. Charlotte Lam, Dr. Pauline Travis, Dr. Lowell Gadberry, and Dr. Ann Russell.

 

Kappa Delta Pi has a long and proud history on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus, honoring outstanding education students and faculty from varied disciplines.

How Do I Become A Member?

WHEN Can I Join?

There is a general information meeting in September to begin the membership drive in the fall. There will be signs in the Education Building hallway. A membership booth will be set up by officers to collect dues and application forms.
