Some Reasons Why Students Aspire to Membership in Kappa Mu Epsilon
- To be elected into membership in an honor society of recognized standing is a distinction which is worthwhile and an encouragement toward continued effort. Kappa Mu Epsilon plays the same role for students of mathematics as Sigma Pi Sigma does for students of physics, Pi Gamma Mu for social science, Tau Beta Pi for engineering, etc. Membership in such societies is a real asset when one has occasion to cite his/her achievements.
- Chapters of Kappa Mu Epsilon sponsor many activities for their members. The chapters sponsor public meetings and bring speakers of local and national prominence before the group. Individual members are invited to present papers and to discuss topics of mutual interest before a friendly audience, thus broadening their knowledge and increasing their interest in mathematics, and furnishing opportunity for individual expression.
- The society is not a secret organization. Its symbolism may be explained to anyone interested. Guests may appropriately be invited to the installation or initiation ceremonies or to any program arranged by the chapter.
- Chapter officers, committee members, and individuals have available an opportunity for leadership experience.
- Membership in Kappa Mu Epsilon qualifies a student for a GS-7 rating.
