| Southwestern History Club |
Additional Information:
Each semester, the club travels to some regional destination to explore a historic site or visit an art exhibition. In the past, the club has traveled to exhibits on Napoleon in Memphis, Russian Czars in Dallas and Topeka, and Impressionist and Realist art in Fort Worth. In addition to these activities, the club occasionally sponsors speakers. Another significant aspect of the club's activities is the preparation for History Day when hundreds of high school students come to the SWOSU campus as part of a national contest, and perform their own plays, show their own documentary films, and present papers and exhibits on a historical theme. The club also engages in a variety of fund-raisers to support its activities and holds a cook-out every fall and spring.
