WebDAV on Windows 98

The following step-by-step instructions will allow you to create a web folder on a Windows 98 machine to access faculty personal web pages.

  • Double-click on the My Computer" icon on your desktop.
  • Double-click on "Web Folders"
  • Double-click on "Add Web Folder"
  • A window opens. At the " Type the location to Add " prompt type in your URL:

    https://secure.swosu.edu/Faculty/firstname.lastname

***Be sure to use 'https' instead of just 'http' when logging in to manage your files. The 'https' protocol allows you to manage your files with a secure certificate, while just using 'http' does not use the secure mode.

(replace firstname.lastname with your SWOSU username)
  • Click on "Next"
  • It should prompt you for your username, password, and domain. Your username is your SWOSU username (firstname.lastname) and your password is the same password as your email password. For the domain, enter "admin.swosu.edu" and click "Next."
  • At the " Enter Name for the Web Folder " prompt, you may enter an alias for your web folder.

You will only need to create one Web Folder on your local machine. This Web Folder is not the same as the folder names your students see on your web site or share folder. You will be able to create as many folders on your actual website once you access your files through the Web Folder you create here.
  • Click on "Finish"
  • You should see your personal web folder.
  • You may now click and drag the files that are ready to be published to the web into this folder.

After you setup your web folder, you will only have to do

  • Double-click on the " My Computer " icon on your desktop.
  • Double-click on " Web Folders "
  • You should see the web folder you created in the steps above
  • Double-click into your folder and you will be able to manage your files
