Our Programs

Together, the seven Departments of the College of Arts and Sciences offer 15 separate bachelor’s degree programs, 11 specialized options, and discipline-specific coursework in support of secondary education degrees. Graduate degrees are also available — the College of Arts and Sciences offers a Master Degree in Biomedical Science and Microbiology, Music Performance, and Music Therapy, and it provides supporting coursework toward a Master of Education degree in Music, Natural Science, and Social Sciences.

Learning, Lectures & Labs

Throughout the College of Arts and Sciences, lectures and labs are led by faculty who are experts in their field and embrace the latest teaching techniques. Programs incorporate hands-on experiences that connect classroom knowledge with real-world applications. Collaborative research, presentations at professional meetings, art exhibitions, theatrical and musical performances, and scholarly writing are just a few of the many experiential learning opportunities available to our students.

Service Learning

Service learning is also emphasized, ensuring that students hone skills in critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and leadership as they engage the community and build relationships. For example, students participate in school tutoring, science demonstrations, summer camps and workshops, health fairs and clinics, environmental monitoring, and outreach programs in art, music, and theatre.

In short, the faculty and staff of the College of Arts and Sciences are dedicated to providing students with foundational and practical skills that prepare them for successful careers, responsible citizenry, and the tools to continue life-long learning.

In the words of William Yeats, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
