I.  Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

1. Special Accommodations

Students requiring special accommodations due to a learning disability or physical limitation must notify the Dean of students prior to the end of the first week of classes. The student should meet with each instructor after the first class period or during the instructor’s office hours within the first week of class and discuss the specific accommodation options that have been recommended and how they will be adopted in his or her class.


SWOSU strives to endure the accessibility of all electronic publication to all individual in compliance with applicable laws, including Section, 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans Disabilities Act (ADA).

To request equally effective accessible formatted material, contact the instructor prior to the end of the first week of classes.

If students are in need of high contract font colors, they need to follow these steps below in Canvas:

  1. Go to Personal Setting (Upper right-hand corner of screen)
  2. Click Edit Settings
  3. Turn on the Feature Option: Use High Contrast Styles
  4. Click Update Changes
