Lisa A. Appeddu, Ph.D.

Lisa Appeddu

Dr. Lisa Appeddu received her B.S. and M.S. from the University of Kentucky in Animal Science, and earned a Ph.D. from New Mexico State University with an emphasis in Animal Nutrition and Physiology. She served as an American Association for the Advancement of Science Congressional Science (AAAS) Fellow in Washington, D.C., and then worked as a Research Scientist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service in El Reno, OK. From 2002 to 2012, she taught in the SWOSU School of Allied Health Sciences and Department of Biological Sciences.

Dr. Appeddu is currently an Associate Professor of Physiology in the SWOSU College of Pharmacy doctoral program. She teaches physiology, health and biostatistics, and the nutritional component of health issues II. She continues to be involved in both laboratory- and survey-based research, mentoring both graduate and undergraduate students. She serves as a statistical consultant for the research projects of fellow faculty and pharmacy residents. Dr. Appeddu serves as co-chair on the Curriculum Committee and as a member of the Resources Committee for the College of Pharmacy. She is also the co-sponsor of two pharmacy student organizations, APhA-ASP and Phi Delta Chi Leadership Fraternity

Dr. Appeddu has more than seven years of camp administration experience, serving first as camp director of Tech Trek at SWOSU from 2013 to 2017 and currently as camp director of the SAGE STEAM Camp at SWOSU since its inception in 2018. Other camp experience includes three years as the biology instructor in the two-week, SWOSU Summer Science and Math Academy for high school students.

Additional leadership and volunteer roles include chair of the SWOSU University Research and Scholarly Activity Committee (2015 to present), AAUW/OK State president (2018 to 2020), Administrative Issues Journal research editor and treasurer (2011 to 2019), and chair of the SWOSU Medical Professions Advisory Committee (2007 to 2017). She is also an on-going Weatherford Rotary Club member.

Outside SWOSU, Dr. Appeddu enjoys spinning and yoga classes, and spending time at the Sand Plum Trail with her husband and two Shetland Sheepdogs.
