Students' Association

The Criminal Justice Students’ Association (CJSA) is an association organized to promote the interests of criminal justice majors and minors, as well as anyone interested in criminal justice, to alert students to career opportunities in the field of criminal justice, and to promote fellowship and scholarship among interested students and faculty. The CJSA is the successor to the Sociology and Criminal Justice Student Association, active during the time when sociology was a major at SWOSU. The association regularly holds meetings to conduct business, as well as sponsors field trips and tours, speaking events on campus, workshops, picnics, parties, and other social events. Tours have included state and federal correctional facilities as well as state and private mental health facilities. Speakers brought to campus for presentations have included prison inmates, correctional employees, Department of Human Services staff, lawyers, etc. Workshops have been held concerning resume preparation, graduate school, and employment applications. The organization has also taken on service projects, including raising funds for a donation to the 2003 Cordell tornado victims, Toys for Tots, and for the local schools.
