Available Services

Counseling Services offers free and confidential counseling to all Southwestern students.  Students’ counseling records are not connected in any way to students’ academic records or transcripts. Confidentiality is only broken when a student is considered to be harmful to themselves or others. If necessary, Counseling Services will provide referral contact information.

The number of counseling sessions allowed is not limited. The number of sessions needed is determined by the counselor and the student. On average students receive counseling for 2 to 3 months for 45 minute weekly sessions.

Counseling Services offers a library of self-help resources and educational materials that may be checked out by Southwestern students. Many free informational brochures are also available.

Counseling Services is located in the Wellness Center and is housed with Health Services.  Students may use the north outside entrance of the Wellness Center to enter.  Appointments can be made by calling 580.774.3776. You may also contact Kim via email kim.liebscher@swosu.edu 

Services for Faculty & Staff

SWOSU offers a campus-based Employee Assistance Program through Counseling Services. The services are available for SWOSU employees and their dependents.  SWOSU recognizes that everyone has personal problems from time to time and may need additional assistance. Counseling is provided by a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Employee participation in the EAP is completely voluntary. The identification or discussion of individuals using this service in confidential. Only when an employee authorizes in writing, may additional information be released to supervisors. This right to privacy is protected by state and federal law.

There is no charge to employees or their dependents for campus-based EAP services.  Appointments are available during regular business hours by calling Counseling Services 580.774.3776.
