Members of the PLC classes V & VI took an afternoon trip to OKC on Monday, February 27th.
The Children’s Center in Bethany, Okla., was the first stop for the afternoon. Students were greeted by Lori Boyd, SWOSU graduate and the Vice President for Special Projects at The Children’s Center. Students were allowed to tour the facility, meet several staff members and hear about volunteer opportunities. The Children’s Center is a private, non-profit hospital dedicated to helping children with complex medical and physical disabilities maximizing their potential in an atmosphere of love and hope. The Children’s Center employees many SWOSU graduates from the health care administration, nursing, business and music therapy programs.
After their hospital tour, the students boarded the bus for the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum in downtown OKC. Students made their way through the museum dedicated to the victims & survivors of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing of on April 19, 1995. Students also toured the grounds of the park.
