Florence Ann (Hoskins) HutchisonThe late Florence Ann (Hoskins) Hutchison was a much-loved figure in the Memorial Student Center at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in Weatherford. For many years, she was a cheerful and welcoming employee in the cafeteria and she encouraged and inspired multiple generations of SWOSU Bulldogs.

Hutchison died in 2015, but her children chose to honor her memory by making a generous contribution to SWOSU to support a scholarship for a student working in the cafeteria.

The 2018-19 recipient of the Florence Ann (Hoskins) Hutchison Memorial Scholarship is Caitlin Parker of Clinton. Parker is studying psychology at SWOSU.

“SWOSU stands firmly on the Hilltop today because our employees are very much a family,” said SWOSU President Dr. Randy L. Beutler. “Florence Ann became an institution at our institution, and we are so honored that her children have chosen to pay tribute to her by supporting the students she cared about so deeply.”

Hutchison was born in 1947 in Cement (OK) and lived there until relocating to Thomas in 1963 where she met her future husband, Warren Hutchison. The Hutchisons raised three children: Troy, Chad (SWOSU Classes of 1995 & 2011) and Jennifer (SWOSU Classes of 1995 & 2012). Hutchison was an active member of the First Christian Church of Thomas and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

The Florence Ann (Hoskins) Hutchison Memorial Scholarship is administered by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. The Foundation was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU. Located on the Weatherford campus in the historic Burton House, the Foundation currently stewards over $24 million in assets for the benefit of SWOSU.
