Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with campuses in Weatherford and Sayre is delighted to announce an exciting new collaboration with the Timothy T. Day Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Phoenix (AZ), dedicated to improving facilities and programs at educational institutions that strengthen free enterprise and economic development.

The Day Foundation’s charitable involvement with SWOSU will specifically benefit the SWOSU Business Enterprise Center (BEC), which links entrepreneurs and organizations to helpful tools and resources including financing, business planning, economic modelling and much more.

The Timothy T. Day Foundation’s $300,000 investment in SWOSU will make much-needed capital improvements to the BEC physical plant and will allow for expansion of the BEC’s workforce training programming and activities. The Day Foundation gift will also provide endowed funding to support ongoing needs of the BEC into the future.

To recognize the significance of the Day Foundation’s support, the BEC will be re-designated as “The Timothy T. Day Business Enterprise Center.”

Timothy T. Day was the principal founder of Bar-S Foods Co., a leading manufacturer and marketer of processed meats and cheese, with operations in Oklahoma (Clinton, Elk City, Altus and Lawton presently employing over 1,500 people including 50 SWOSU graduates), Wisconsin, and Texas and sales representation throughout the United States.

Over a period of three-plus decades, beginning in 1981 through his service as Chief Executive Officer until 2012, and then as Chairman of the Board of Directors until 2017, Day overcame a challenging start-up environment and led Bar-S to become an industry leader. Presently, Day serves as Chairman and President of the Timothy T. Day Foundation and Chief Executive Officer of the Timothy T. Day Family Office. He, his wife, Sandy, and their beloved pug, Lulu, enjoy spending time with family while dividing their time between Jackson (WY), Phoenix (AZ) and La Jolla (CA).

Bar-S Foods currently has an economic impact on western Oklahoma of over $200,000,000 according to an analysis by the SWOSU BEC.

“The generous investment of the Timothy T. Day Foundation in the SWOSU BEC will allow our institution to more effectively equip local businesses to assess new technologies, to analyze markets, and to deliver needed internships and external experiences for our students. We are truly honored to join the family of causes that have benefitted from the philanthropic and visionary spirit of Tim and Sandy Day,” said SWOSU President Dr. Randy L. Beutler. “SWOSU is committed to improving the economic vitality of western Oklahoma. We know that our role as an institution extends beyond the classroom, and we prioritize providing support and assistance to the communities and entrepreneurs in our service area and beyond.”

SWOSU’s partnership with the Timothy T. Day Foundation is facilitated by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc., which was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU. Located on the Weatherford campus in the historic Burton House, the Foundation currently stewards over $24 million in assets for the benefit of SWOSU. For more information on the Timothy T.
