A “Lunch and Learn” activity as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month at Southwestern Oklahoma State University recently featured Cecilia Hernandez-Cromwell, news director and anchor at Telemundo Oklahoma, a media/news outlet of Tyler Media.

SWOSU Student Affairs hosted the annual event.

Hernandez-Cromwell spoke to a group of approximately 40 students about her undergraduate education at Gonzaga University in Spokane (WA).  Hernandez-Cromwell encouraged students to think about career options while designing their collegiate plans of study.

While she majored in Broadcast and Electronic Media Studies and minored in Public Relations, she also decided to add a minor in Spanish to improve her mastery of the language. She said this decision, as well as taking advantage of undergraduate internships, was the catalyst for her career.

SWOSU Student Affairs concludes a month-long series of events with a book chat entitled Narratives of Immigration: Hispanic Voices on Wednesday hosted by Librarian Frederic Murray and a movie screening on Thursday of Overboard.
