Miss Oklahoma Ashley Thompson Coming to SWOSU & Western Oklahoma

Miss Oklahoma Ashley Thompson will be in western Oklahoma attending various engagements in conjunction with Miss SWOSU Pageant activities scheduled for this Saturday, November 3, on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford.

Thompson’s first stop will be Thursday at 1 p.m. when she visits an assembly at Arapaho-Butler schools. On Friday, she will appear at assemblies at Weatherford Burcham Elementary School at 8:30 a.m. and at Weatherford Middle School at 11:30 a.m.  She will attend a meet/greet at Kendi’s School of Dance at 3:30 p.m. and then have a 4:45 p.m. private dinner with Miss SWOSU Pageant contestants at the home of Dr. Paul and Jan Tisdal. Her busy Friday will conclude with Miss SWOSU Pageant rehearsals that evening.

On Saturday, the Miss Oklahoma will attend a meet/greet that is open to the public at 1 p.m. in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center on the SWOSU campus. She will then entertain at Saturday night’s pageant beginning at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center.

Thompson began competing in the Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen Competition in 2010. During her three years competing, she finished in the Top 10 each time. She then continued competing in the Miss Oklahoma competition. Over the course of six years, she was awarded the Miss America Community Service Award, Miss Oklahoma Community Service finalist five years in a row where she placed both 1st and 2nd runner up, Top 10 semi-finalist, talent award, interview award, and finally, Miss Oklahoma. Her journey in the Miss Oklahoma competition taught her the importance of her social impact and the value of hard work, dedication, perseverance and timing. During Miss America 2019, Thompson placed as a Top 15 finalist.

She travels the state as Miss Oklahoma and spreads awareness about her social impact in order to put an end to human trafficking and share with Oklahomans how they can get involved in the fight to end it. She also aims to serve as a positive role model for students across the state.

The Miss SWOSU Pageant and Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen Pageant will be held Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on the Weatherford campus. Advance tickets are $10 for non-SWOSU students and $5 for SWOSU students.  All tickets at the door are $15. Advance tickets are available in Room 205 of the SWOSU Administration Building and from all contestants.
