SWOSU Announces Rover Challenge Team

Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford has announced its SWOSU NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge Team for the 2018-2019 school year.

The team will compete April 12-13, 2019, at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville (AL).

SWOSU students selected and assignments on the team are:

  • Daniel Battles, Senior, Burns Flat, Engineering Technology, team co-captain
  • Tucker Sawatzky, Junior, Weatherford, Industrial Technology, team co-captain
  • Makynna Koper, Sophomore, Weatherford, Chemistry (professional), peddler and engineering notebook
  • Katherine McDowell, Junior, Okemah, Engineering Technology, fabricator and engineering notebook
  • Wes Rose, Senior, Weatherford, Park and Wildlife Law Enforcement, fabricator
  • Colby Epperly, Senior, Weatherford, Engineering Technology, peddler and fabricator
  • Tyler Carlile, Senior, Elk City, Engineering Technology, fabricator
  • Trey Biddy, Sophomore, Weatherford, Engineering Technology, fabricator
  • Jacob Gonzalez, Senior, Newcastle, Engineering Technology, fabricator
  • Jacob Jones, Sophomore, Roff, Engineering Technology, fabricator

Faculty sponsors for the team are Cindi Albrightson and Brett Chase.

Major funding for the rover challenge is the NASA Oklahoma Space Grant Consortium. SWOSU’s representative from the consortium is Madeline Baugher. Also involved in the project is SWOSU faculty Todd Raborn.
