Cindi Albrightson Named Berrong Endowed Chair of Engineering Technology at SWOSU
Cindi Albrightson was recently selected by the faculty members of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Technology as the Berrong Endowed Chair of Engineering Technology on the Weatherford campus.
The endowed chair honor is made possible through an investment from the late Senator Ed and Winnie Ola Berrong.
“Albrightson is very deserving of this honor. She works hard and is a wonderful teacher,” said Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology Associate Dean Dr. Patsy Parker. “She always puts our students first and goes to great lengths to help them succeed.”
Albrightson earned her bachelor’s degree in industrial technology with a specialization in industrial supervision and her master of education degree in technology from SWOSU.
She worked in public education and served as a safety consultant for several years. In the fall of 2012, Albrightson began her career at SWOSU by joining the Department of Engineering Technology as the first female instructor in that department. In 2014, she began assisting the university as campus safety coordinator.
For the past six years, Albrightson has served as a co-director for SAGE STEAM camp, formerly known as Tech Trek. She has recently given presentations at national and state conferences on best practices in student advising. She also serves as the accreditation coordinator for ATMAE (Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering).
She is married and has four children. Her husband, Courtney, works for Chaparral Energy. Her daughter Brittni, a SWOSU alumnus, is married and lives in Bozeman (MT). Her daughter Airey attended SWOSU before joining the United States Marine Corp. Airey is currently the lead welder at MAC Trailers in Davis. Her son Connor is a sophomore at SWOSU pursuing a degree in graphic arts, and her youngest son Hunter is a junior at Weatherford High School.
Albrightson is very involved with the community serving as the executive board president for the Weatherford Food and Resource Center. She is also a member of the Local Emergency Planning Committee, safety committee for the Weatherford YMCA, and the Custer County Emergency Management Full Scale Response Team.
