SWOSU Offering Theory of Flight Course

A beginning flight class will be offered during the upcoming 2019 spring semester by Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Engineering Technology in conjunction with the Stafford Air and Space Museum in Weatherford.

Enrollment for the Theory of Flight course is open now. The course will meet each Tuesday afternoon starting January 8 from 4-6:40 p.m. at the Stafford Museum.

Chaney Larsen teaches the course. Larsen is a private pilot, flight instructor and assistant director/marketing coordinator of the Stafford Air and Space Museum.

Dr. Patsy Parker, associate dean of the Everett Dobson School of Business & Technology, said the opportunity is open to anyone with a high school diploma or GED, including current and concurrent SWOSU students.

The Theory of Flight course covers aeronautical knowledge helpful to pass the private pilot written exam, learn the history of aviation, practice on a motion-based simulator and discover the career possibilities of the aerospace industry.

Admittance to SWOSU is required, so adults interested in enrolling in the course should see the SWOSU website or call the SWOSU registrar’s office at 580.774.3777. For more information, contact Parker at 580.774.3284 or
