Jonna Myers Named Director of Graduate Programs at SWOSU Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology

Jonna Myers has been named director of graduate programs for Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology (Dobson SBT) in Weatherford.

In her new role as graduate director, Myers will focus on recruitment of new students as well as advising current students who are pursuing master’s degrees in business.  Dobson SBT currently offers two graduate degrees:  Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Management.

“Interest in the online MBA has caused a recent surge of enrollment,” Myers said.  “An online MBA is available from SWOSU through 8-week or 16-week courses, allowing students to tailor their courses around their own schedules.  For example, a person can avoid taking classes during a certain time of the year that is particularly busy for them and then jump back in with an 8-week course.  This type of scheduling makes it possible to earn the MBA in a year.”

Myers holds degrees in College Services Personnel (Arkansas Tech University) and Communication Arts (SWOSU). She is currently in the dissertation phase of a doctorate in Human Resources and Workforce Development (University of Arkansas).  With research interests including faculty development and critical reflection, her most recent scholarly activity includes an article in the Transnational Journal of Business and a textbook chapter that will be published later this year.

Myers is actively involved with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the Association for Business Communication (ABC).  On the SWOSU campus, she serves various leadership roles on many committees, but her favorite place is in the classroom.  Myers is most passionate about incorporating creativity into her courses and interactive teaching strategies that prepare students for professional success.

“Jonna Myers has the enthusiasm and the networking skills to grow our master’s programs in business,” said SWOSU Associate Dean Dr. Patsy Parker. “We are excited to have her as the graduate director at Dobson SBT.”
