Alexander Mickelthwate Bringing OKC Philharmonic to SWOSU this Friday

Conductor Alexander Mickelthwate is beginning his second season as music director of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, which will perform this Friday, September 13, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

The 7:30 p.m. concert will be held in the Fine Arts Center on the SWOSU campus. The concert is part of the university’s Panorama Series.

Ticket are $10 and available on at; SWOSU Public Relations & Marketing Office, Room 205 of the Administration Building; and Weatherford Daily News.  A limited number of $5 tickets are available for purchase by SWOSU students in the SWOSU PR & Marketing Office. Tickets will be available at the door.

 Born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany, Mickelthwate received his formal training from the Peabody Institute of Music. Following tenures as assistant conductor with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and associate conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, he served as music director of the Winnipeg Symphony for 12 years before joining the OKC Phil in 2018.

Special guest for the evening will be trumpet player Matilda Lloyd.
